This amp was built to play larger halls and outdoor concerts. The lack of reverb was not a big issue as most live performances had acoustics full of reverberation halls, arenas. Peter Traynor built these things to stand up to road abuse, unlike a lot of vintage stuff. It sounds great with either bass and guitar, providing a clean and loud tone. Works great in large club settings. Front panel has two input jacks, controls for treble boost, volume, treble expander, treble, bass expander, bass, presence, and bass boost. There is also a standby switch and corresponding green and red pilot lights. There are no effects in this head, but stomp boxes work just fine. The front of the amp is wrapped in a Fender-style silver-face cloth [
Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster Rosewood Review
Specifications The Stratocaster is based on a model with a 2- piece contoured light alder body. Finished in thin-skin nitrocellulose lacquer, several new colour options are available to this model including the tropical turquoise version we are reviewing in this article. Its standout feature is the bound rosewood fingerboard, which is very unusual for a Stratocaster, usually reserved for models such as the new Vintage Reissue Jazzmaster. Other features include the thinner than normal headstock with an extra soft neck to headstock transition, staggered vintage tuners with removes the need for string tees, , a special 57 style tremolo block with no paint between the base and block and no tremolo back plate.
As for electronics, these are pretty much standard which the exception of the custom designed pickups tested on the road by Eric himself. A blonde vintage case with gold interior is also included, as well as a woven strap, ash tray bridge cover and a coil cord.

About Guitars Buying a new guitar is a considerable investment for most of us. An instrument is all about inspiration. You are the musician and the guitar is the tool you use to express your feelings and music. This has nothing to do with what models you choose or how much they cost. Some basic knowledge about the different wood types, neck and body profiles, pickups etc will help you in making the best choice. However, over the last decade or so, the MIMs has gotten a considerable face lift and the overall quality is very high.

Eric Johnson — as we know — is notoriously exacting when it comes the matter of his gear. The tiniest tweaks to guitars, amps, pedals and everything else in his signal chain make huge differences to him in his quest for the perfect guitar sound. This is very flat indeed, and quite unusual on any Fender.
There is no string tree on the headstock to pull the strings down in line with the machine heads, instead the posts are staggered so the post for the top string is much lower than the one for the bottom one. There are some other very small Eric Johnson style tweaks too to add to the ones already mentioned; there is no backplate, all five tension springs are fitted, the trem block is silver painted and there is no paint between the base plate and block?

However, over the last decade or so, the MIMs has gotten a considerable face lift and the overall quality is very high. In fact, the reason why they are cheaper, ha sless to do with quality but rather lower labour costs, cheaper type of laquer and apply methods etc. Japanese Fenders are considered to be above the Mexicans and perhaps even just as good as the US. In the 80s and early 90s, Japanese Fenders were well known for being superior to any other models and the quality is still top notch.
Maple or rosewood necks? Some like thick necks and some prefer a thinner contour. Some like the vintage glossy nitro finish and some prefer the more modern satin finish. Depending on the radius, thickness and contour of the neck, maples are generally brighter sounding with a bit more top and less mid range.
Guitars, Gear and Inspiring Musicians. Monday, November 08, New Guitar!! Eric Johnson Stratocaster Even though the Eric Johnson Strat has been reviewed to death since its release in , I simply couldn’t resist doing another one on my new two-color sunburst. I’ve only had this guitar for a few weeks and it has quickly become one of my favorites, and if you’ve ever had a chance to play one you’ll know exactly why I love this guitar. Eric Johnson Strats are beautifully built with deep, comfortable contours and a superbly shaped neck that is a real pleasure to play.
We’re talking high-end, Fender Custom Shop quality and attention to detail here for under two grand.
“Dating my Eric Johnson Stratocaster” For a few seconds, this conjured up a surrealistic commercial for me. The EJ Strat was first introduced January 20, meaning somebody in Bethesda is really robbin’ the cradle.
The body is made of alder as with his original Strat model , with a quarter-sawn maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Great care has been placed in the selection of the tremolo block, the number of trem springs, the neck shape, the fret type and the electronics. It took a lot of engineering to get that right and to nail the perfect size, shape and placement of the F-hole. The result is truly a Thinline Stratocaster and not a Thinline Tele with Strat appointments, which you could technically say about some previous attempts.
That requires tremendous balance between the outputs of the three pickups, but it also displays how perfectly fine-tuned this instrument is from an acoustic perspective. This is a guitar that expects you to roam all about the neck, and it never fights back too hard nor makes things too easy for you. It just makes notes feel more The existing solidbody maple and rosewood fingerboard versions each have their own very distinct charms, and not everyone is going to be into the semi-hollowbody tonality, which does noticeably alter the Stratocaster tonality to be more warm and less airy.
But there are sounds and tones that you can only get from this guitar, and that makes it very worthy of your consideration.

I’m a poor college student. By the way the above opinions are my own,,No doubt many disagree with them. This is a great album. A About Face It is too 80s again.
Modeled after a ’57, the Eric Johnson Signature Model Stratocaster has a two-piece alder body with a thin, nitrocellulose lacquer finish. This lets the wood breathe which translates into better resonance. This painstaking process is typical of Custom Shop quality and is similar to the way Fender finished guitars in the ’50s and early ’60s.
I agree with one of the earlier posters I think it is one of the highest quality Strats Fender is making right now. The neck is unique and took me a little while to get used to it. It is fatter toward the headstock and thins out toward the body. I had been playing an original ’92 SRV with rosewood neck as my main guitar for the last 15 years but since it is in dire need of refretting the EJ has become my main ax. I really like the pickups and the tone controls. Some have mentioned it might be too bright but that is the beauty of having that tone control for the bridge pickup you can dial it down.
Also the middle pickup has a very useable tone to it as well. I do say that is my only negative with the EJ is I can’t get that same sound in that pickup configuration but it’s a different guitar so what can you expect. IMO if a person buys the rosewood neck version or is considering changing pickups or wiring you might as well just buy a American Standard with rosewood neck.
You’re sort of defeating the purpose of buying a signature guitar and then messing with it that way.

Eric Johnson Up Close: The Complete 2010 Interview
I had posted a concern about public health and asked what had the facilities done to rid the aqua recreational areas of this disease and further questioned if the facilities had been cleared of this highly contagious disease. I felt since Golds Gym members are free to utilize any facility they choose that cross contamination was a considerable risk.
Brown not only did not address my concerns nor answer my questions, he blocked me from the conversation thread. I am writing to you to report my experience with one of your representatives because this person CLEARLY has no clue of customer service nor risk management. Golds gym is currently facing potential litigation from the customers who fell ill due to Golds Gyms failure to provide hygienic environments resulting in their exposure to a potentially life threatening disease.
I thought you might like to be aware.

The positive fan feedback from the shows made Alien Love Child a permanent gig. Dunlop has also begun selling Johnson’s signature Fuzz Face pedal. Contract disputes followed, and Seven Worlds was not released until on Ark21 Records. Unhappy with his recordings, Johnson mastered, then later scrapped several completed tracks for the new album and delayed its release for three years, on top of the three years he had spent touring in support of Ah Via Musicom.
They played to audiences around Austin. The album, released on the Internet, received nearly 65, plays in the first seven weeks after it was made available on mp3. But the album received mixed reviews and did not match the success of its predecessor. It never sounded the same afterwards, and he sold the amplifier to Carlos Santana. In , Johnson and the group recorded a demo, which saw an extremely limited release; years later, the recording became a prized collector’s item. He tends to swap out the bridge pickups in some of his Stratocasters for DiMarzio HS-2 pickups, because they don’t hum as much as standard single-coils.
In March of , Fender released an Eric Johnson Signature Thinline Fender Stratocaster built to the exact same specifications as his first signature Strat, the sole exception being that the guitar is the first semi-hollow Stratocaster which has ever been produced by Fender.
